College of Business and Economics
A Welcome Message from the Dean
As the Dean of the College of Business and Economics (COBE) at Radford University, I invite you to experience business with us...actively, globally, and entrepreneurially. I am proud of the endeavors of our distinguished faculty, staff, students, and members of our Advisory Council who provide a rich environment that compels progress. Please consider ways that you can join the exciting initiatives in higher education underway at this AACSB-accredited program for business.
Our most exciting venture is the design and construction of a new headquarters for the COBE, for which we will break ground in May, 2010. Our new COBE building will provide a home for learning and a compelling venue for hosting our community partners and COBE's student organizations. COBE will host the premiere of the BB&T Global Capitalism Speaker Series on October 30 when we welcome Mr. Keith Shields of Marketing Associates who will explore the tenets of capitalism and ethics in the automotive finance industry. Our Fall semester begins with a new interactive event, "Experience Business...Casually", where students will sharpen their career building and job search skills in consultation with members of the COBE Advisory Council, alumni and recruiters, courtesy of First Bank of Virginia and other generous sponsors. Later in the semester, COBE students will partner with Suntrust and participate in Stanford University's Entrepreneurship Week and the Global Innovation Tournament, two prestigious events that will provide challenging arenas for our students to demonstrate their global business problem solving skills and creativity.
The COBE faculty are connecting, virtually, with students on campuses around the world and continue to publish books for entrepreneurs and insights for accountants, investors, managers and marketing professionals. The COBE students continue to collaborate with each other and represent us well on the national stage. And, our COBE staff provide the linkages that tie us together and help us accomplish our goals.
I am proud of the special community of people at COBE who create the active learning environment that develops responsible business professionals who collaborate to compete successfully in the global economy. We welcome you to our community. Please review our website or contact us directly to learn more about the exciting opportunities available at RU.
